چکیده

A new cepstrum-based channel compensation method is proposed for speaker verification over the telephone network. The method consists of intra-frame and interframe cepstral processing. For the former, a poleremoved cepstrum is derived, where the LP poles with frequency higher than a certain threshold are removed. For the latter, we introduce a novel way of cepstral mean subtraction called differential-partial cepstral mean subtraction (DPCMS). The main idea is that the cepstral mean of clean speech is not necessarily zero and that the cepstral difference between clean and channel-corrupted speech is mainly contributed by the channel effects on LP poles within a certain frequency range. A speaker verification system based on radial basis function networks was used to evaluate the proposed approach. Clean speech was used to train the networks and telephone speech was used to evaluate their performance. Experimental results show that the proposed method reduces verification error rate significantly.

Channel Distortion Compensation Based on the Measurement of Handset's Frequency Responses

A new cepstrum-based channel compensation technique is proposed for speaker veri cation. Under this approach, channel cepstra are derived from the direct measurements of the frequency responses of telephone handsets. Speci cally, they are determined by truncating the inverse Fourier transform of the log magnitude of the interpolated handsets' frequency responses. The proposed method is readily ...

A model-based transformational approach to robust speaker recognition

A novel statistical modeling and compensation method for robust speaker recognition is presented. The method specifically addresses the degradation in speaker verification performance due to the mismatch in channels (e.g., telephone handsets) between enrollment and testing sessions. In mismatched conditions , the new approach uses speaker-independent channel transformations to synthesize a spea...

Factor analysis based channel compensation in speaker verification

This report describes a powerful channel compensation method for the text-independent speaker verification task. This powerful method is developed in the LRDE Speaker Verification framework. The purpose of a text-independent speaker verification system is to check whether a hypothesised speaker is really the author of a speech utterance. The channel compensation problem arises when training dat...

Applications of Missing Feature Theory to Speaker Recognition

An important problem in speaker recognition is the degradation that occurs when speaker models trained with speech from one type of channel are used to score speech from another type of channel, known as channel mismatch. This thesis investigates various channel compensation techniques and approaches from missing feature theory for improving Gaussian mixture model (GMM)-based speaker verificati...

Telephone-based Text-dependent Speaker Verification

TELEPHO E-BASED TEXT-DEPE DE T SPEAKER VERIFICATIO In this thesis, we investigate model selection and channel variability issues on telephone-based text-dependent speaker verification applications. Due to the lack of an appropriate database for the task, we collected two multi-channel speaker recognition databases which are referred to as text-dependent variable text (TDVT-D) and textdependent ...
